Commuter rail module enters service at the new Irun station

The new Irun station has brought into service module 1 of its passenger building, which will house commuter rail services, and has reopened access from Station Square. This action completes the first phase of the terminal’s transformation works, aimed at adapting it to the new railway needs of the border city.

The project, with an investment of approximately €75 million, is being carried out in phases to ensure compatibility between construction progress and the continuity of rail traffic.

In this phase, the station opens to the public the ground floor of the new passenger building, which includes the Acerca service area, passenger information and assistance spaces, as well as station management facilities and staff offices. This area is directly connected to street level via stairs and a lift.

Cádiz station opens a new surface car park with 183 spaces

Cádiz railway station has brought into service a new surface car park located on its northern side, with a total of 183 spaces, six of which are reserved for people with reduced mobility. The facility forms part of the reorganisation of the station’s surroundings and also enables a new northern access to be opened through a vestibule that is provisionally available while works continue. Vehicle access to the car park will be via Ciudad de Vigo street, next to the Customs building.

Station information screens, now also on passengers’ mobiles

The new passenger information system is now available at almost 200 high-speed and long- and medium-distance stations, allowing passengers to check, in real time on their mobile phones, all information on train departures, arrivals and platforms. Simply scanning a QR code or accessing a URL provides an exact replica of the station’s information screens.

Secure parking for bikes and scooters

Title
  • The following locations have secure bike and scooter parking spaces located outside the passenger station building that are open 24 hours 365 days a year. 
  • The bikehangar is closed, covered and holds up to six bicycles. It is designed for intensive use and protects bikes from adverse weather conditions, theft, and vandalism.
  • This service helps facilitate energy-efficient, zero-emission mobility, and boosts clean, sustainable intermodal urban transport (Adif's Ecomilla Program).
